Scriptures On Prayer
 

The following Scriptures are from the New International Version.

Deuteronomy 4:7
What other nation is so great as to have their gods near them the way the Lord our God is near us whenever we pray to him?

II Chronicles 7:14
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

Matthew 5:44
But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.

Matthew 6:5
And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father who is unseen. Then Your Father, who sees what is done in secret will reward you.

Matthew 6:7-8
And when you pray do not keep babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

Matthew 6:9-13
This is how you should pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

Matthew 26:36
Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them. "Sit here while I go over there and pray."

Luke 6:28
Bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.

Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.

On reaching the place, he said to them, "Pray that you will not fall into temptation.

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.
